I've noticed on social networks like Facebook & Twitter and overhearing conversations between our athletes that many of you still have "Globo-gym" memberships, i.e. 24hr Fitness and LA Fitness. I'm somewhat baffled, but know it's all well and good because y'all are spreading the word about King CrossFit to those that aren't in the know, right? Anyway, I want to know how many of you would be interested in an open gym outside of our regular class hours?

Im in for open gym
ReplyDeleteI'm all for it!
ReplyDeletei only go to my globo because it's more convenient at times (2min from my house). it's NEVER as good as being at the box though, but sometimes you gotta make do.
ReplyDeleteI would only be interested in open gym if I missed a WOD. For example on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteim down for sunday open gym, i can help :)
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, I don't think I would make use of an "open gym" to make it worth the Kings/coaches time and effort. (I do go to a "globo-gym". But it's because they have a pool, spin classes, and a treadmill that I can train for speed on. But if it means anything. . .I always have MUCH more fun at the box!). ..Plus an open gym might mean that I actually have to practice getting my kippings and double unders. J/K. I'll practice soon on my own, I promise! But thanks for even asking and thinking of ways to serve our needs!
ReplyDeletei think i spend enough time at the box, but i'm willing to help out and work on my weaknesses during open gym.
ReplyDeleteI looked into going to the gym across the street from our neighborhood because I wanted to practice my deadlifts and cleans, pull ups and kettle bells. They had a big anniversary special this past Monday so I went into a "globogym" for the first time in my life. I was pretty disappointed. I had no idea how to work ANYTHING. The bars for deadlifts and cleans were on a rack that I couldn't figure out. The pull ups were supposed to be done using these two handle thingies (couldn't figure out how to kip with those) and there were no kettle bells in the entire place. Most people didn't know what they were when I asked.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that surpised me the most was how uncomfortable I felt walking around in there. I didn't feel the need to do my hair and makeup for the occasion as most of them did. It's hard to believe I feel better around a bunch of badass crossfitters, that could clean the floor with me than I do with girly girls running on treadmills.
Open gym is a great idea. But I too, don't know if it would be worth all of your time unless you had a confirmed number of people who would attend. I do like the Sunday option as well. I don't think anyone that goes to the "other gyms" could possibly get what they get from KINGS. There's no one there to push you, to encourage you or care about you the way that you all do.
Love you guys!
I agree with Brant and a few others, I think there's plenty of classtime throughout the week to get in enough workouts. A Saturday or Sunday open gym would be cool, if even just for a few hours rather than for the whole day. I know the King Coaches need time for themselves and with their families, especially since some of them have jobs outside of the Box. We apprecitate all that you do, and for bringing Crossfit into our lives!
ReplyDeleteI think an open gym would be great, as long as it isnt a big pain for the coaches
ReplyDeleteI would love an open gym. I am a newcomer to this and would take advantage of a chance to practice some skills.
ReplyDeleteI would utilize an open gym format from 06:00am to 09:00am. Let me know if you need help.
